As part of our Geography IBL unit, our final task was to write a persuasive piece entitled "Why should people visit Proserpine."
We studied this unit concurrently with our literacy unit on persuasive writing which gave the students the prior knowledge and tools needed to complete this piece.
With this knowledge of persuasive writing running concurrently with their engagement in our unit and our big question, the results of our writing task were enriched and the overall learning achievement standards were high in both the literacy aspect and the learning achievements in the Geography unit. Overall, an effective teaching strategy which really supported the students' literacy achievements.
