Standard Five

Which value am I enacting?
Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning.
5.1 Assess Student learning.

Evidence:

For our geography IBL unit, I developed a range of informal, formative and summative assessment strategies.

We used a diagnostic assessment strategy to begin with to find out the student's pre-conceived ideas about the places they were familiar with around Proserpine.  We created a graffiti wall and took turns to write on the wall.

Writing on the graffiti wall.

The graffiti wall allowed us to look at the
places we were familiar with.
Formative assessment to provide scaffolding for summative assessments...
First we made a map and learnt some mapping skills...

Then I developed a range of summative assessments that allowed the students to use the skills and knowledge that they had gained through their inquiry based learning.

These assessment items were all aligned with the curriculum learning outcomes and marked and moderated against the unit's GTMJ:  http://goo.gl/IJTYxJ

Which career stage am I demonstrating:

The range of assessment pieces developed for the unit demonstrates a .proficient level of this standard.

  1. Great to see the artefacts related to assessment for learning (diagnostic), assessment as learning (summative) and assessment of learning (summative) used to support students' learning, Jule--clear demonstration of this standard.
